Baripada: Movement on trains on the Baripada-Bangiriposi route was suspended after around 50 metres of railway track near Sunagadia in the Station Bazar area of Odisha's Baripada sank following incessant rainfall.
The damage was detected during the movement of a DMU train late Sunday night, after the Puri-Bangiriposi Superfast Express had passed through the section earlier in the day.
Following the incident, railway maintenance personnel immediately reached the spot and began repair work. Workers have been carrying out restoration at the site since midnight.
Rail services on the route will resume after the repair work is completed and the track is declared safe for train movement.
