Bhubaneswar: Success in government service should be measured by the positive impact on citizens’ lives, not by a rank or designation, said Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. Majhi made the remark while addressing new recruits at the 16th state-level ‘Nijukti Mela’ in Bhubaneswar. 

During the ‘Nijukti Mela’ appointment letters were distributed to 1,326 candidates across nine departments. These included junior engineers, assistant agriculture officers, assistant professors, livestock inspectors, junior coaches, trainers, and sub-inspectors, among others.

The Chief Minister urged the new recruits to address citizens’ grievances promptly and treat people with dignity. “Ensuring timely resolution of public issues is a moral responsibility. True service lies in listening to people and acting swiftly,” he said, adding the government aims to deliver welfare benefits to the last person.

He advised the newly appointed employees to maintain integrity and stay away from corruption. 

Majhi further stated Odisha aims to become a prosperous state by 2036 and contribute as a growth engine to a developed India by 2047. Achieving this goal would require efficient administration and dedicated, disciplined officials, the Chief Minister highlighted.

He informed since June 2024, the government has provided employment to over 45,000 individuals.

Emphasising industrial growth as a key driver of employment, the Chief Minister said the government has been actively engaging with investors within India and abroad to attract industries to Odisha. As a result, the state has secured investment proposals worth around Rs 21 lakh crore, expected to generate nearly 20 lakh job opportunities.

Referring to a recent roadshow on food processing in New Delhi and Noida, Majhi said 38 MoUs were signed involving investments of Rs 66,392 crore, which are likely to create over 54,000 jobs. 

Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo urged the recruits to work with honesty and dedication, contributing to both their families’ reputation and the state’s development.

Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik, Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling and Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulananda Mallick were also present at the event.
