Bhubaneswar: A rape accused, who had allegedly escaped from the police custody in the Odisha capital here, was nabbed from Bengaluru.

A team of the Commissionerate Police captured accused Rudra Prasad Sutar in the Karnataka capital and produced him in a local court.

The accused was brought to the capital city from Bengaluru today.

The Mahila Police had arrested Sutar from Bhadrak on charges of raping a woman a few days ago. The police initiated action against him on the basis of a complaint lodged by the victim.

However, the accused had managed to escape from the police custody while having his breakfast in the canteen. A complaint in this regard had been lodged with the Capital police.

“Our team captured the rape accused from Bengaluru a day after he escaped from the custody of the Mahila Police. He was brought to the capital city from the Karnataka capital in a train today morning. The accused will be produced in a court later in the day,” said the Commissionerate Police.
