Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance today arrested Tarini Prasad Tripathy, Managing Director of K. Singhpur Large Area Multi-Purpose Co-operative Society (LAMPCS) in Rayagada district, for allegedly embezzling Rs 75 lakh from the society.
According to Vigilance officials, the accused allegedly misappropriated the funds between 2024 and 2026 by manipulating official records and financial documents. A detailed documentary verification conducted by Odisha Vigilance reportedly uncovered the fraud.
Investigators said the embezzled amount consisted of savings and deposits belonging to primary members of the co-operative society, affecting local depositors who depended on the institution for financial security.
Following the findings, Odisha Vigilance registered a case against Tripathy under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018 and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
The accused was arrested and forwarded to the court.
Odisha Vigilance said further investigation into the case is underway.
