Kendrapara: Odisha Vigilance on Friday arrested the Revenue Inspector (RI) of Kaupada Circle in Kendrapada district for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5,500 from a complainant to facilitate the issuance of a Record of Rights (ROR) in a mutation case.
The accused has been identified as Sai Darshini Lenka. She was apprehended while allegedly demanding and accepting the bribe from an applicant in exchange for submitting a favourable report in a mutation case and facilitating the issuance of the ROR.
According to Vigilance officials, the complainant had purchased a piece of land from two joint owners several years ago and applied for mutation of the land on June 24, 2026, to obtain the ROR in his name. Despite repeated requests to dispose of the mutation case, the RI allegedly demanded Rs 6,000 as illegal gratification for processing the case.
When the applicant expressed his inability to pay the amount, the accused reportedly reduced the demand to Rs 5,500. Unable to meet the demand and alleging harassment, the complainant approached Odisha Vigilance, which verified the complaint and laid a trap.
During the operation, Vigilance officials caught the Revenue Inspector allegedly accepting the bribe amount of Rs 5,500. The entire tainted cash was recovered from her possession and seized as evidence.
Following the trap, Odisha Vigilance launched simultaneous searches at three locations linked to the accused to investigate possible disproportionate assets.
In connection with the case, Kataka Vigilance Police Station Case No. 27, dated July 23, 2026, has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Further investigation is underway.
