SC Collegium recommends transfer of 2 Orissa HC judges

Bhubaneswar: The Supreme Court (SC) Collegium has recommended the transfer of two judges of the Orissa High Court. The SC Collegium made this recommendation during its meeting on August 6.

The Collegium has recommended the transfer of Justice Manash Ranjan Pathak and Justice Krushna Ram Mohapatra of Orissa HC in Cuttack to other High Courts.

The apex court Collegium has recommended the transfer of Justice Manash Ranjan Pathak to Gujarat High Court in Ahmedabad.

Similarly, the Collegium has also recommended the transfer of Justice Krushna Ram Mohapatra to Chhattisgarh HC in Bilaspur.

Justice Pathak has been working as a judge in the Orissa HC since July 21, 2025. He had been appointed as an Additional Judge of Gauhati High Court on May 22, 2013. He became a permanent judge of the same HC on November 12, 2018.

Justice Mohapatra had been elevated as a Judge of the Orissa HC on April 17, 2015. He is the son of Late Justice Sarat Chandra Mohapatra.

The Orissa HC has a sanctioned strength of 33 judges—24 permanent and nine additional judges. However, several posts in the Orissa HC are lying vacant.
