Bhadrak: The Bhadrak district administration on Tuesday ordered the closure of all government, aided and private schools following incessant rainfall across the district.

According to the district administration, schools operating under the Central Kitchen model will remain open only to serve the Mid-Day Meal to students before suspending academic activities for the day.

The decision comes as the weather situation is expected to worsen under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the formation of a low-pressure area over the Bay, which is likely to intensify rainfall activity across Odisha.

The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall, particularly in the northern and coastal districts of the state.
