Cuttack: In view of the intensifying heatwave, the Cuttack district administration has decided to keep all government and private schools, as well as Anganwadi centres, closed on April 24, 25 and 27.

According to the directive issued by District Collector and Magistrate Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde, teachers will continue to attend schools and may conduct online classes to ensure completion of the academic syllabus within the stipulated time.

The order also applies to government, aided and private colleges in the district, which will remain closed during the specified period. However, previously scheduled examinations will be conducted as per the existing timetable.

The administration has further directed Anganwadi centres distribute dry ration to beneficiaries at home instead of providing cooked meals during this period.

Notably, schools had earlier been allowed to function with revised morning timings from 6:30 AM to 9:00 AM, before being shut from April 20 due to rising temperatures. Following a fresh review of the worsening heatwave conditions, the district administration has now decided to extend the closure.

Meanwhile, the administration has instructed officials to continue census-related work while strictly adhering to heatwave safety protocols.
