Baripada: Schools across Odisha's Mayurbhanj district will remain closed today due to waterlogging and flood-like conditions in several areas, even as rainfall has reduced.

The district administration has announced a holiday for all government and private schools from Class 1 to Class 12, keeping the safety of students in mind. The decision was taken following the direction of the Mayurbhanj Collector, with the District Education Officer issuing the closure order.

Several roads and other areas in the district continue to remain waterlogged, leaving people stranded in some places. The prevailing conditions have raised concerns over the safety of students travelling to and from schools.

However, teachers and other school staff have been directed to report for duty as usual.
