Baripada: Schools across Odisha's Mayurbhanj district will remain closed today in view of the forecast of heavy rainfall.

The District Education Officer, Mayurbhanj, directed all Block Education Officers (BEOs) to instruct the headmasters and headmistresses of all schools under their jurisdiction to keep the institutions closed for the day.

The order applies to all government, government-aided and private schools from the primary to higher secondary levels.

The decision was taken following the direction of the Mayurbhanj Collector and District Magistrate.

The IMD has issued an orange warning for Mayurbhanj, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall in the district today.
