Bhubaneswar: The Cyber police in Odisha have arrested a social media influencer on charges of posting abusive and indecent remarks against Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The cops arrested accused Biswajit Sahoo, a resident of Jagatpur area in Cuttack, on the basis of a complaint lodged by the media cell of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state.
Sahoo allegedly used offensive languages and shared false and misleading contents online with an intent to defame the Chief Minister and the Prime Minister.
The accused posted some AI generated videos and contents targeting the two leaders in his social media account ‘Mr Biswa’, said the Cyber police.
“We will soon approach the authorities of social media platform Instagram to delete those videos,” said Cyber police SP Suchismita Das.
Earlier, a team from the BJP media cell had lodged a complaint with the Cyber police and claimed that the social media posts of the accused contained insulting and obscene remarks against the Odisha CM and PM.
The BJP media cell had also urged the cops to take stringent action against the accused for spreading defamatory and misleading information on social media.
