Bhubaneswar: The BJP government will convene a special session of the Odisha Assembly on April 30.
The Secretary of Odisha Assembly today sent a communique in this regard to all MLAs and government departments among others.
The Assembly will deliberate on ‘Participation of Women in Indian Democracy’ during the special session, revealed the communique.
On April 15, Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Odisha Assembly, Naveen Patnaik, had urged the BJP government to convene a special session of the House and pass a resolution opposing any reduction in the state’s political rights in the proposed delimitation exercise linked to the women’s reservation and expansion of Lok Sabha seats to 850.
However, the women’s quota Bill was defeated in the Lok Sabha as the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre could not manage to get two-third majority in the Lower House of the Parliament.
