Bhubaneswar: A tourist and three minor girls drowned in separate incidents in Odisha’s Koraput and Nabarangpur districts today.

As per reports, the tourist drowned while bathing in Rani Duduma waterfall in Koraput and the three minors met watery grave in their village pond in Nabarangpur. 

The deceased tourist has been identified as Bhabani Shankar Mohanty of Jagatsinghpur district.

Mohanty was working as an accountant at a private educational institute in Koraput.

Mohanty and three others reportedly went to Rani Duduma waterfall on a fun trip today morning. He reportedly drowned while bathing in the waterfall.

Mohanty’s friends tried a lot to save his life but could not. On being informed, the police reached the spot and launched a probe into the incident. The cops have also detained Mohanty’s three friends for questioning.

In another incident, three minor girls, all aged around 5, drowned while bathing in the village pond in Umerkote area of Nabarangpur district in the afternoon.

The three minors reportedly drowned after they somehow entered into deep water while bathing in the pond. The villagers later fished out the bodies.
