Balangir: Passengers aboard the Purunakatak–Bhubaneswar Intercity Superfast Express (Train No. 12894) experienced a brief disruption on Sunday after the train’s locomotive became uncoupled from the coaches shortly after departing Balangir.

According to railway authorities, the incident occurred at around 3 pm while the train was moving at low speed. The locomotive became temporarily detached from the coaches, following which the issue was noticed and railway staff were immediately alerted.

The locomotive was brought back and re-coupled with the train. Railway personnel subsequently carried out the necessary safety checks before allowing the train to resume its journey.

The train resumed operations safely at around 3:40 pm and continued towards its destination, Bhubaneswar.

Railway officials said the situation was promptly handled and there was no major inconvenience to passengers or disruption to other train operations.

The incident occurred on the train’s scheduled journey from Purunakatak to Bhubaneswar.
