Rayagada: Incessant rainfall affected train movement in Odisha's Rayagada district on Monday after rainwater inundated a section of the railway track near Tikiri station, forcing the Koraput-Visakhapatnam passenger train to halt for nearly two hours.

According to reports, around two feet of water accumulated on the railway track due to heavy rainfall since morning. Runoff from nearby hills, along with overflowing water from a drain adjacent to the track, led to waterlogging on the track, making train movement unsafe.

The Koraput-Visakhapatnam train, which was scheduled to reach Rayagada around noon, got stranded at Tikiri station since about 10 am. Hundreds of passengers remained stuck inside the train.

Later, the train resumed its journey after the water receded.
