Jagatsinghpur: A tragic road accident in Jagatsinghpur claimed the lives of a couple after a speeding truck rammed into their motorcycle near Fakirapada Chhak on the Cuttack-Machhagaon road on Tuesday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Bichitrananda Behera and his wife Limina Behera, residents of Balijori village under Paradip Port police limits.

Husband dies on the spot, wife succumbs in hospital

According to reports, the couple was travelling towards Jagatsinghpur town when the accident occurred. The impact of the collision was severe, killing Bichitrananda on the spot. His wife, who sustained critical injuries, was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital in Jagatsinghpur but later succumbed during treatment.

Police reached the spot soon after the incident and seized the truck involved in the accident. An investigation has been initiated to ascertain the circumstances leading to the mishap.
