Bhubaneswar: A newly-wed man was killed after being struck by lightning in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district today.
The deceased has been identified as Rabindra Behera of Pariakuli village under Morada police limits in Mayurbhanj. Behera got married four months ago, reports said.
As per reports, Morada area of Mayurbhanj witnessed thunderstorm in the afternoon. Lightning struck Behera while he was working in his farmland. He died on the spot.
After learning about Behera’s untimely demise, his mother-in-law suffered a cardiac arrest and she was declared dead subsequently, reports said.
In another incident, a woman lost her life in lightning strike at Gholamunha village in Morada area of Mayurbhanj. The incident took place while she was working in her paddy field.
Similarly, lightning strike claimed the life of a youth in Hatadihi area of Keonjhar district.
The deceased has been identified as Mithun Raul, son of Srinivas Raul, of Dimiria village under Nandipada police limits.
Lightning struck Mithun while he was tilling their farmland with the help of a tractor. A few villagers rescued Mithun and rushed him to a community health centre (CHC) at Shalania.
The young man was shifted to Anandapur Sub-Divisional Hospital after his condition deteriorated. However, he was declared dead on arrival by the doctors.
