Sundargarh: In a tragic incident, two siblings, a 10-year-old boy and his eight-year-old sister, died following a suspected snakebite at Girijatoli village under Chandiposh police limits in Gurundia block of Sundargarh district.

The deceased have been identified as Sameer Haro (10) and his sister Sairen Haro (8).

According to reports, the siblings had dinner with their parents on Monday night and later went to sleep on a cot. At around 3 am, Sameer complained of severe stomach pain and called his father. A short while later, Sairen also complained of similar pain.

The family rushed both children to a nearby hospital after their condition deteriorated. They were subsequently shifted to the Government Hospital in Rourkela for further treatment. However, doctors declared both children dead while undergoing treatment.

Following the incident, police from Raghunathpali police station seized the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examination. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the deaths.
