Brahmapur: A young woman died after allegedly setting herself on fire by pouring kerosene over herself at Shantinagar Lane-5 under the Badabazar police station limits in Odisha's Brahmapur today.

The woman initially sustained critical burn injuries in the extreme act. She was being shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack due to her serious condition.

However, she succumbed to her injuries while being taken to the hospital.

The reason behind her extreme step remains unclear. Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to the incident.
