Bhubaneswar: The entire coastal state of Odisha is likely to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall for next two days, due to the strengthening of low pressure over northwest Bay of Bengal, as per the weather forecast of Indian Meteorological Department today.

As a result of this low pressure, red, orange and yellow alerts have been issued to eight, fifteen and seven districts in the state, respectively till 8:30 am tomorrow.

Red warning districts, namely, Angul, Bargarh, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Sambalpur and Sonepur will experience heavy to very heavy rain, with extremely heavy rainfall (more than 20 cm) also likely in one or two parts of these districts.

Similarly, orange warning has been issued to Balasore, Bhadrak, Bolangir, Cuttack, Degarh, Jagatsinghpur, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Khordha, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Puri and Sundergarh where intense rainfall is likely.

Furthermore, heavy rainfall is very likely in one or two places in Gajapati, Ganjam, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nayagarh and Rayagada and therefore are under the yellow warning radar.

Weather warning is on yellow alert for Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Bargarh, Nuapada, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj for 24 hours between July 2 and July 3, as the low pressure over Bay of Bengal is set to turn into depression in the next 24 hours.
