Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: Millions of users of Facebook, Instagram and Messenger, all owned by Meta, experienced difficulties accessing their accounts on Sunday due to a widespread outage.

Reports indicate the disruption persisted for a significant period during the day, primarily affecting the desktop versions of Facebook and Instagram. Users attempting to log in via web browsers encountered error messages and access issues.

However, the mobile applications of these platforms remained largely unaffected, with most users able to continue using services without major disruptions on their smartphones.

Several users reported the problem on Downdetector, a popular online platform that tracks real-time service status, outages, and technical issues across thousands of services globally.
