Keonjhar: Odisha Vigilance today arrested a doctor on charges of accepting a bribe for the appointment of Yoga instructor at Sainkul Community Health Centre (CHC) in Keonjhar district.

Dr. Ranjeeb Kumar Rout, the Superintendent of Sainkul CHC, was caught while he was receiving a bribe amount of Rs 20,800 for the appointment of the complainant's sister as the Yoga Instructor under the same CHC and to clear a pending salary bill.

Dr. Rout demanded a bribe of Rs 20,800 from the complainant for the disbursement of his pending salary and the appointment of his sister as a temporary Yoga Instructor under the Sainkula CHC, the Vigilance stated in a release.

With no option left, the complainant reported the matter to Odisha Vigilance by dialing toll-free No 1064 of the anti-corruption agency.

Receiving the complaint, the Vigilance officials laid a trap and apprehended the accused doctor while accepting the bribe money from the complainant today.

The entire bribe amount has been recovered from the accused's possession and seized it. A case in this regard has been registered under section U/s 7 P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 against the accused doctor.

Following the incident, the Vigilance team launched searches at three locations of Dr. Rout to probe into DA angle.
