Bhubaneswar: In a bid to ensure efficiency in administration and public service, the Odisha Government has decided for premature retirement of inefficient employees.

The aim of the move is to weed out officers and employees of doubtful integrity or inefficiency from public service, said a circular of the General Administration and Public Grievance Department issued by secretary Sanjeev Chopra.

Employees who have completed 30 years of service or have attained 50 years of age, whichever is earlier, and those who have attained the age of 55 will come under its purview. Performances of such state government employees belonging to Group A, B, C and D categories will be reviewed by a committee every three months.

As per the recommendations of the committee, the government will take decision regarding premature retirement of the employees.

"The basic consideration in identifying such employees should be the fitness and competence of the employees to continue in the post which he/she is holding," the circular said. If found satisfactory, an employee's performance will not be reviewed for the next five years, it added.
