Bhubaneswar: Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha today resigned from the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Chadha also announced that he will join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). According to him, altogether seven AAP Rajya Sabha MPs will join the BJP.

AAP Rajya Sabha MPs—Sandeep Pathak, Ashok Mittal, Harbhajan Singh, Rajinder Gupta, Vikram Sahni and Swati Maliwal—have given their consent to join the ruling BJP at the Centre, claimed Chadha at a press conference in New Delhi today.

“We have decided that we, the 2/3rd members belonging to the AAP in Rajya Sabha, will merge ourselves with the BJP by exercising the provisions of the Constitution of India,” said Chadha.

Chadha further stated that AAP has altogether 10 MPs in the Rajya Sabha. Of the 10, seven MPs (more than 2/3rd) will join the BJP. “We have provided all required documents in this regard to the Rajya Sabha Chairman,” Chadha added.

It is worth mentioning here that the AAP had removed Chadha from the post of party’s Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha a few days ago.

The Arvind Kejriwal-led party alleged that Chadha had failed to raise key issues against the government in the Upper House of the Parliament.
