Seats to be increased in medical colleges in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The government has approved a proposal on increasing UG and PG seats by 10 percent in all the state-run medical colleges in Odisha.

The Directorate of Medical Education & Training (DMET) Odisha in this regard has written a letter to all the heads of medical colleges to apply at the Medical Council of India (MCI) by June 7.

With the move, the number of seats in the state-run medical colleges including SCB will be increased from this academic session 2019-20.

As the UG seats have been increased by 25 at SCB Medical College in Cuttack, total 275 candidates will get admission into the MBBS programme for 2019-20 academic session.

Besides, the government has given nod for increasing UG seats by 25 for the MKCG Medical College in Berhampur, 15 in VIMSAR in Burla and 10 each in medical colleges in Koraput, Balangir, Baripada and Balasore.

Meanwhile, permission has been granted for hiking the seats by 26 for admission into PG courses in SCB Medical College for the academic session 2020-21. The PG seats will also be increased in VIMSAR and MKCG Medical College.

However, the final move will be taken by the MCI.
