Bhubaneswar: Sports enthusiasts in Odisha are set to witness top-tier athletic action as the state gears up to host the Asian Indoor Athletics Championship in 2027.
Announcing the development on X, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said it is a matter of pride for both the state and the country.
The decision was taken at the Asian Athletics Council meeting held in Hong Kong, where Odisha was chosen as the host for the prestigious championship.
Majhi added hosting the Asian Indoor Athletics Championship will mark another milestone in Odisha’s growing sporting legacy. Notably, the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar is also slated to host the World Athletics Indoor Championship in 2028.
“This glorious achievement in the field of sports will further strengthen our identity and pride, while giving our young sporting talents a new recognition on the global stage,” the Chief Minister said in his X post.
