Bhubaneswar: Ninety-nine percent of the required land for the expansion of Khurda-Bolangir railway line project has been acquired. A special team will soon visit the proposed construction site.

Total length of the railway line is 301 Km, of which 183 Km railway line has already been completed. Problems persist over the acquisition of 3.8 Km of land. A patch of around 3.1 Km of land is to be acquired in Nayagarh district and 700 metre of patch in Boudh district, an official source said.

In a high-level meeting held here, the Additional Chief Secretary emphasised adequate compensation to the to-be displaced people in both districts and to ensure their livelihoods through different welfare schemes. Cases pending in courts should be followed up for early disposal, he advised.

Worth mentioning, several senior officials of the Revenue, Forest, Commerce & Transport, and Railway departments took part in the review meeting.
