Kataka: The Ravenshaw University Teachers’ Association (RUTA) has decided to observe collective leave from Friday over issues concerning the university and its faculty members.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the association on Thursday. As part of the protest, the teachers will stay away from their duties and wear black badges.

RUTA has more than 80 members.

The development comes against the backdrop of an ongoing dispute among teachers at Ravenshaw University, which had led to a split in the teachers’ association.

Following the differences, a section of teachers broke away from RUTA and formed the Ravenshaw Vishwa Vidyalaya Shikshak Parishad (RVSP), citing ideological differences and the need for a more open platform to raise their concerns.

The collective leave announced by RUTA is likely to impact academic activities at the university from Friday.
