Bhubaneswar: In a significant move by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the Bijepur bypoll in Odisha, it has decided for campaigning by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh and some other central leaders of the party.

Informing about this, BJP spokesperson Sajjan Sharma said Singh and four central leaders of the party Smriti Irani, Radha Mohan Singh, Ram Kripal Yadav and Santosh Gangwar will campaign for Ashok Panigrahi, the party's candidate for the bypoll.

A final decision over the schedule of their visit will be taken soon, he added.

Worth mentioning, the saffron party has fielded Panigrahi for the bye-election scheduled to be held on February 24. He had joined the BJP after quitting BJD in October last year.

Notably, the assembly seat had fallen vacant following the demise of Congress MLA Subal Sahu on August 22, last year.
