BJD all set for budget session; assures to fulfill poll promises

Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today said his party is ready for an open and constructive discussion during the budget session of the Assembly scheduled to begin on June 25.

BJD’s legislature party meeting headed by Naveen Patnaik was held at state Assembly here to chalk out strategies for the ruling party to face the Opposition in the upcoming session.

“During the assembly session, we are open to discussion in all matters regarding Odisha. We look forward for cooperation of the central government, and, of course, we will follow-up with all our manifesto promises made to the people,” Patnaik told reporters here soon after the meeting.

The budget session of the 16th Odisha Legislative Assembly will commence from June 25 and will be held in two phases.

While the first phase Assembly session will be held from June 25 to July 3, the second phase will commence from July 12 to August 8.

State Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari will present the Budget for 2019-20 financial year on June 28.

The appropriation bill for 2020 fiscal will be passed in the House on July 31.
