Bhubaneswar: Director General of Fire Service Department, Bijay Kumar Sharma was today appointed as Head of Police Force in Odisha with full additional charge of State DGP.

Sharma, a 1986-batch IPS officer, has been serving as the Director General of Fire Service Department since November, 2017. He was also the Commissioner of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate from May, 2008 to May, 2012.

The new appointment comes a day after DGP Rajendra Prasad Sharma was selected as the new member of Odisha Lokayukta. He had been heading the Odisha Police since August, 2017. He has applied for voluntary retirement.
