Bollywood diva Sridevi passes away after cardiac arrest

Mumbai: Veteran Bollywood actor Sridevi passed away after a massive cardiac arrest on Saturday night.

The 54-year-old actor was in UAE to attend a marriage ceremony with family when she suffered the attack. Her husband Boney Kapoor and younger daughter were with her at the time of the incident in Dubai.

The Padma Shri awardee who began her career as a child artist won many hearts with her acting. Lamhe, Sadma, Chandni, Mr India, Nagina, Ladla and English Vinglish are some of her outstanding performances she would be remembered for a long time. She acted in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Telugu films before trying her luck in Bollywood.

She last appeared on revenge-thriller Mom released in July last year.

Bollywood mourned the untimely demise of industry's first female superstar.

"I have no words. Condolences to everyone who loved #Sridevi. A dark day. RIP," Priyanka Chopra tweeted.

"An absolute icon. Gone too soon, #Sridevi. Too soon..." Jacqueline Fernandez tweeted.
