Balasore: A newlywed woman was found hanging from ceiling at a rented house in Balasore town of Odisha on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Rashmiprava Sahoo, the wife of Uday Kumar Sahoo, a junior scientist working with DRDO at Chandipur.

However, the cause behind suicide is yet to be clear.

According to reports, the newlywed couple was staying in a rented house near Fakir Mohan College road under Town Police limits in Balasore district. Rashmiprava took the extreme step by hanging herself with a rope in absence of her husband at home on Tuesday.

The DRDO scientist later took her wife to the hospital where she was declared dead.

As there was no complaint filed at police station, police handed over the body to the family after registering an 'unnatural death' case following postmortem.

Reports said that Uday Sahoo is a native of Pitambarpur area under Paradeep Lock police limits in Jagatsinghpur district. He had tied the knot with Rashmiprava, the daughter of Rabinarayan Sahoo, a resident of Sailo village under Tirtol police limits in the same district, on May 7.
