Watch: Five women beaten up mercilessly over witchcraft suspicion in Odisha

Baripada: Locals in Madhupur village beat up five women mercilessly alleging them of practicing witchcraft that reportedly took lives of four kids in three months in the area.

The villagers tied them to a tree and thrashed them.

According to reports, Madhupur villagers first attacked a person, identified as Shiv Singh, who named five women, over death of four children in the past three months in the village. In the Kangaroo court, the villagers decided to teach a lesson to those five women for practicing black magic.

On the other hand, a written complaint has been lodged by Shiv Singh with Bada Sahi police. However, he is absconding following the complaint.

The incident occurred on Oct 22 in Madhupur village where Shiv Singh was beaten up over suspicion of witchcraft. A case has been filed against the accused and they will be arrested soon, said a police official here today.
