Bhubaneswar: In a good news for animal lovers, four Royal Bengal Tigers will be brought to the Sambalpur Zoo in Odisha from various zoos in the country, informed Anshu Pragyan Das, DFO, Hirakud Wildlife Division.

The Central Zoo Authority (CZA) has granted permission in this regard.

On the other hand, the process of relocating 115 spotted deer from Sambalpur Zoo to Debrigarh Sanctuary began today.

Anshu Pragyan Das, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of the Hirakud Wildlife Division, said the CZA has approved a master plan for Sambalpur Zoo. Following this approval, a proposal was submitted to transfer 115 deer to the sanctuary. Only eight spotted deer will remain at the zoo.

"Since the spotted deer have been living under human observation, we have established a quarantine enclosure spanning 1.2 hectares. The 115 deer will be gradually released to the sanctuary. They will stay in the quarantine area for two to four weeks, under constant observation. A specialized vehicle has also been prepared for their relocation," Das said.
