Malkangiri/Rayagada: In two separate road accidents, four people, including a nine-month-old child and a woman, were killed in Odisha on Saturday.

In Rayagada district, a couple lost their lives after a car rammed into their two-wheeler near Krushna Nagar under Kalayansinghpur police limits in the afternoon. The deceased have been identified as Deba Bhatra and Shakuntala Bhatra of Tandipur Nadisahi.

Tension prevailed on State Highway-46 following the incident, as locals staged a road blockade alleging the car involved in the accident fled the spot. Police later reached the site, brought the situation under control, and sent the bodies for post-mortem examination.

In a separate incident in Malkangiri district, a man and his nine-month-old son were killed after the car they were travelling in crashed into a stationary truck near Mathili police station.

According to reports, the family was returning home after attending a relative’s ring ceremony when the accident occurred. The vehicle was reportedly heading towards Koraput at the time of the mishap.

Three women travelling in the car narrowly escaped with injuries. Fire Service personnel rushed to the spot, recovered the bodies, and rescued the injured.
