Bhubaneswar: Senior Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Ashish Chandra Mohanty has assumed charge as Director of the Directorate of Income Tax (Intelligence and Criminal Investigation) in Bhubaneswar.

Prior to this appointment, Mohanty served as Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals), Unit-1, in Cuttack. A 2005-batch IRS officer, he brings over two decades of extensive experience in the Income Tax Department.

During his career, Mohanty has held key positions in crucial divisions, including the Tax Policy Division of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) and the Directorate of Investigation in New Delhi, where he demonstrated strong administrative and investigative expertise.

His appointment to this key post is expected to infuse fresh energy among Income Tax Department personnel in the Odisha region. Officials believe his vast experience will strengthen tax administration in the state and play a significant role in curbing economic offences.
