Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Friday carried out simultaneous raids on properties linked to Satyanarayan Sethy, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of Kotpad Block in Koraput district, following allegations that he possessed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The searches were conducted at multiple locations on the strength of search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore. The operation was led by seven Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), assisted by nine Inspectors, 11 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) and other supporting staff.
During the searches, Vigilance officials unearthed several immovable and movable assets linked to Sethy and his family members.
Among the properties detected is a 2-BHK flat measuring around 1,000 sq ft located in Hi-Tech Plaza at Jatani in Khordha district. Officials also traced two farmhouses at Taragaon under Boriguma Tahasil in Koraput district. One farmhouse, spread over 10.03 acres, has mango and eucalyptus plantations, while the second covers 4.35 acres and contains Nilgiri plantations.
Vigilance further identified 32 plots situated across Jeypore, Koraput, Boriguma, Kotpad and Patangi tahasils in Koraput district.
The Vigilance Technical Wing has been engaged to measure the properties and assess their market value.
During the raids, officials also recovered cash worth Rs 5.48 lakh and around 300 grams of gold jewellery.
The agency said details of bank deposits, postal savings, and other financial investments linked to Sethy and his family members are being verified.
Search operations were continuing at the time of filing this report, and the total value of the assets is yet to be determined.
