Bhubaneswar: A fresh upper air cyclonic circulation has formed over the Bay of Bengal (BoB), said the IMD on Friday.
“The upper air cyclonic circulation lies over South Andaman Sea and neighbourhood extends upto 1.5 km above mean sea level,” added the IMD.
On the other hand, the upper air cyclonic circulation over interior Odisha and adjoining Chhattisgarh at 1.5 km above mean sea level has become less marked, revealed the IMD regional centre here today.
“The trough now runs from the above upper air cyclonic circulation over southwest Uttar Pradesh & neighbourhood to north interior Odisha across East Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh at 0.9 km above mean sea level,” it added.
As per the IMD prediction, several districts in Odisha are likely to witness thunderstorms till May 15.
According to the MeT Department, districts like Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar may witness thunderstorms, lightning and gusty surface winds till May 13. The department has issued a Yellow warning in this regard.
Besides, light to moderate rain is very likely to occur at several places across the state till May 15, said the IMD regional centre in its weather bulletin.
“The maximum temperature (day temperature) may rise by 2 to 4 Degree Celsius across the state during the next 2/3 days,” it added.
