Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure area is likely to form over the Southwest Bay of Bengal around May 11, said the IMD on Saturday.
“An upper air cyclonic circulation lay over Gulf of Mannar and adjoining Sri Lanka extending upto 5.8 km above mean sea level on Saturday (May 9). Under its influence a low-pressure area is likely to form over Southwest Bay of Bengal around May 11,” revealed the IMD.
According to the IMD, the upper air cyclonic circulation, formed over South Andaman Sea and neighbourhood on May 8, became less marked over the same region on Saturday.
As per the IMD prediction, several districts in Odisha may witness rain till May 16.
Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty surface winds are very likely to occur in districts like Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati till May 14. The IMD has issued a Yellow warning in this regard.
Besides, many places across the state may witness light to moderate rain or thunderstorm till May 16, said the IMD regional centre in its weather bulletin today.
“The maximum temperature or day temperature across the state may rise by 2 to 4 Degree Celsius during the next two days,” it added.
