Mercury crosses 40 Degree C at 14 places in Odisha; Titilagarh boils at 43.7

Hot and humid conditions continued to prevail across Odisha as the maximum temperature crossed 40 Degree Celsius at 14 places on Thursday. Titilagarh recorded the highest maximum temperature of 43.7 Degree C in the state.

Bhubaneswar: Hot and humid conditions continued to prevail across Odisha as the maximum temperature crossed 40 Degree Celsius at 14 places on Thursday.

Titilagarh in Balangir district recorded the highest maximum temperature of 43.7 Degree C in the state, followed by Jharsuguda (43.6 Degree C), said the IMD regional centre.

Four places—Bhawanipatna, Sambalpur, Hirakud and Balangir—recorded maximum temperature between 42 Degree C and 43 Degree C.

As per the IMD data, the mercury hovered around 41 Degree C at three places—Rourkela, Sundargarh and Nuapada.

Similarly, the maximum temperature was 40.6 Degree C at Sonepur, 40.4 Degree C at Bargarh, 40.3 Degree C at Boudh and 40 Degree C at Talcher and Malkangiri.

The capital city of Bhubaneswar recorded the maximum temperature of 35.3 Degree C while Cuttack recorded 35.4 Degree C.  

Heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in the Western Odisha districts of Balangir, Jharsuguda and Sambalpur till April 20.

Similarly, many other districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri and Khurda may witness hot and humid conditions till April 23.

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is likely to occur at some places across the state during the period.
