Bhubaneswar: The maximum temperatures across Odisha are likely to fall in the next few days as the IMD predicts thunderstorms in several districts of the state till May 8.
The maximum temperatures or day temperatures across Odisha may fall by 2 to 3 Degree Celsius after two days, said the IMD regional centre here on Friday.
As per the IMD prediction, thunderstorm accompanied with lightning, hail and gusty surface wind (speed reaching upto 50-60 kmph) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Malkangiri, Koraput, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Gajapati and Rayagada during the next 24 hours. The MeT Department has issued an Orange warning for these districts.
Similarly, several other districts including Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Sundergarh, Jajpur, Nuapada, Kendrapada, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Jajpur, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda and Nayagarh may witness thunderstorm and gusty surface winds during the period. The IMD has issued a Yellow warning in this regard.
Besides, light to moderate rain may occur at many places across the state during the next 24 hours, said the IMD in its weather bulletin. According to the IMD, most of the districts in Odisha may witness thunderstorms till May 8.
“Light to Moderate rainfall has occurred at many places across the state with heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Puri during the last 24 hours. A few places over the districts of Kalahandi, Khurda and Sonepur have witnessed hailstorms during the period,” added the IMD.
