Odisha bans strikes in electricity services, imposes ESMA for 6 months

The state government has prohibited strikes in power sector establishments to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply across Odisha. The Home Department of the state government has issued an order in this regard.

Bhubaneswar: The state government has prohibited strikes in power sector establishments to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply across Odisha. 

The Home Department of the state government has issued an order in this regard.

The order has been issued under the Odisha Essential Services (Maintenance) Act, 1988 to ensure uninterrupted power generation, transmission and distribution across the state.

The state government has banned strikes in electricity services in Odisha for a period of six months under ESMA.

The order will be applicable for all establishments under GRIDCO, OPTCL, OHPC, OPGC, TPCODL, TPNODL, TPSODL, TPWODL and any other power generating organisations in Odisha, said the state government.
