Bhubaneswar: Care for a stray dog proved costly for a woman and her differently-abled daughter in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.

The villagers allegedly thrashed the mother-daughter duo after the canine bit a goat on Thursday.

The incident took place at Urmala village under Udala police limits in Mayurbhanj.

As per reports, the woman, identified as Phulamani Hembram, often provides leftover food to the stray dog. A group of villagers today confronted the woman after the canine attacked a goat.

The villagers allegedly attacked the widowed woman and her differently-abled daughter with stones after a brief argument on the issue.

The mother-daughter duo sustained injuries in the incident and were admitted to a hospital.

The injured woman has lodged a complaint in this regard with Udala police.
