Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today reviewed the law and order situation in Odisha and asked the police to win back the confidence of the common people.

Senior officials of the Odisha Police, district Collectors and SPs attended the review meeting.

The meeting assumes significance as the state has recorded some gruesome crimes, including the lynching of a railway constable, recently.

Thrust on gathering intelligence inputs

“Majhi has asked the police to take stringent action against the criminals and win back the confidence of the common people,” said the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) in a statement.

The Chief Minister advocated coordinated efforts by the officials of the district administration and police to check crime. “Proper coordination between the officials of the district administration and police is required to check crime in the state,” he said.

Majhi also put emphasis on gathering intelligence inputs and proactive action by the cops for maintaining law and order in the state.

“The Chief Minister has directed the police to intensify patrolling and introduce immediate measures to increase their visibility, which is important for checking crime,” said the CMO.
