Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has accepted the resignation of former IAS officer Pradeep Kumar Jena from the post of Chairperson of the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC).

Pradeep Jena relinquishes OERC post on personal grounds

The state Energy Department issued a notification on Monday stating that Jena’s resignation on personal grounds has been accepted with effect from May 25, 2026. He has been allowed to relinquish charge of the post from the forenoon of the same day, according to the notification issued under the orders of the Governor

Pradeep Kumar Jena, a 1989-batch IAS officer, was appointed as the Chairperson of OERC on March 28, 2025, after retiring from government service on June 30, 2024.

Earlier, he had served as the Chief Secretary of Odisha after being appointed to the top bureaucratic post on February 26, 2023.

The position of OERC Chairperson had remained vacant since November 2023 following the resignation of former Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra.

The Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission is a quasi-judicial body responsible for regulating electricity tariffs in the state. It also works to promote efficiency, transparency, competition and economic growth in Odisha’s power sector.
