Odisha hikes bus fares following rise in fuel prices

The Odisha government has announced hike in bus fares across all categories in view of the recent rise in diesel prices. The Commerce and Transport Department of the state government today issued a notification in this regard.

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has announced hike in bus fares across all categories in view of the recent rise in diesel prices.

The Commerce and Transport Department of the state government today issued a notification in this regard.

As per the notification, the fares of ordinary as well as express buses have been hiked by 2 paise per kilometre.

With this, the ordinary buses will charge 90 paise per km while the fare of express buses has reached 94 paise per km.

The fares of deluxe and AC deluxe buses have been increased by 4 paise per km.

Henceforth, the deluxe bus will charge 131 paise per km while the AC deluxe bus will charge 159 paise per km, said the notification.

According to the Transport Department, the fare of super deluxe buses has been hiked by 6 paise per km. Now, the super deluxe buses will charge 247 paise per kilometre.

However, the Transport Department has not hiked the fares of town buses.

Notably, the prices of petrol and diesel were hiked by Rs 3 per litre across the country on Friday.
