Bhubaneswar: A police complaint has been lodged against Kantabanji MLA Laxman Bag for his alleged remarks against the tribal people.

Adivasi Kalyan Sangha, a tribal organisation, has lodged an FIR against the BJP MLA at Patnagarh police station in Odisha’s Balangir district.

As per the complaint, the Kantabanji legislator allegedly uttered some objectionable remarks against the tribal people while participating in a programme in a television channel some days ago.

The tribal outfit has condemned the alleged remarks and urged the police to take appropriate action against the legislator.

The tribal organisation also threatened to launch an agitation if the BJP MLA does not tender an apology in this regard at the earliest.

It is worth mentioning here that Bag was elected to the Odisha Assembly from Kantabanji segment in Balangir district on a BJP ticket in 2024. He had defeated BJD supremo and then Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik by around 16,000 votes.

Apart from his traditional Hinjili Assembly constituency in Ganjam district, Patnaik, a five-time former Chief Minister, had unsuccessfully contested the 2024 polls from Kantabanji.
