Bhubaneswar: A newborn baby boy was found abandoned in a banana orchard in Odisha’s Koraput district today.

The incident took place at Kakirigumma village under Laxmipur block in Koraput.

As per reports, some locals spotted the newborn baby in the banana orchard, located near Santoshi Colony, after they heard its cries in the morning.

On being informed, a team of the Kakirigumma police along with officials of the Child Protection Society rushed to the spot and rescued the newborn.

The baby boy was immediately taken to a hospital for health check-up. Its condition is stated to be stable. The cops have launched a probe into the incident.
