Bhubaneswar: The state government is mulling to establish at least seven fast track courts in Odisha to deal with cases concerning crimes against women.
This was revealed by Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan while speaking at a workshop, jointly organised by the state government and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), in the capital city today.
This apart, the government has a plan to set up at least five special cyber courts to ensure speedy justice in cybercrime cases, added the Minister.
“The state government is considering a proposal to create legal awareness among the people of Odisha through the local languages. The government taking into consideration the interests of the people residing in the rural areas and the weaker sections while formulating policies,” stated Harichandan.
According to the minister, the state government is formulating policies to ensure smooth governance as well as delivery of services to the people in the next 50 years.
“The socio-economic condition in the state as well as country is witnessing a sea change. Now, over 50 per cent of our population are youths. But, we will have more elderly people after some years. So, the government is taking into consideration all these factors while formulating policies,” added the Minister.
Odisha State Law Commission Chairperson Justice Biswanath Rath, Advocate General Pitambar Acharya and Chief Secretary Anu Garg among others also spoke at the workshop.
